Differences between 12R and ZZR frame

Although the frame is similar to 12R frame, the ZZR uses a modern version of the design. The new frame integrates many of the earlier frame’s separate components, greatly reducing the number of frame parts and the frame’s overall weight. The steering head is a gravity casting, the main monocoque section is a pressing, and the swingarm pivot section is vacuum casting. This allows the frame to be made very stiff where stiffness is needed and more flexible where flexibility is needed. Being able to control the wall thickness of the various components makes it possible to create a light frame with an idealised stiffness balance.
