Chassis Design

Short wheelbase and long swingarm

The compact engine design gave the chassis designers a high degree of design freedom. This allowed an ideal front/rear wheel weight balance, a low seat height and excellent mass centralisation. Because the engine is so compact, it can be mounted further forward in the frame, allowing use of a long swingarm together with a short wheelbase. Like the 12R, the ZZR’s fuel tank is centrally mounted in the chassis, extending below the seat to contribute to the bike’s low centre of gravity.
